  • 1 pound fresh figs, stemmed and halved

In a medium saucepan, combine the figs, sugar, water, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
Bring to a simmer over medium heat and cook until the figs are soft and the syrup has thickened about 15 minutes.

In a small bowl, stir together the figs and apricot jam
Unfold the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut out 12 3-inch circles.
Place the circles on the prepared baking sheet.
Spoon the fig mixture into the center of each circle.
Bake until the pastry is golden brown and the filling is bubbly about 20 minutes.
Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Fried Brevas
